Social Sabbatical Kigali, Rwanda, Week 2–3
Do you have a room with a view? The office of Kosmotive founder and CEO Blandine Umuziranenge offers a scenic view. In Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills, it will never take long to get to the next stunning view, whether you are in Kigali, in the countryside or in the National Parks with their beautiful nature and wildlife.

Having this in mind makes it easier to understand, why in Rwanda many girls and women cannot regularly afford hygienic products.
Kosmotive’s mission is to support these girls and women, to help them not to miss school or work frequently.
Kosmopads, Kosmotives main product, are eco-friendly, cost-effective, breathable, non-toxic, reusable sanitary pads for young women and girls. The cost for one box equals the cost of 5 boxes of disposable pads in Rwanda, but last for 2 years where they should use 24 boxes of disposable pads; thus 1 KosmoPad = 50 disposable pads.
The mission of our SAP Social Sabbatical sub-team is to support Kosmotive with regards to their supply chain management, operational model and data base management.
While Kosmotive is not yet big enough to implement an ERP system like S/4 HANA from SAP, it is too big to continue with a large number of paper-based unconnected processes. Therefore, we have revisited the operations processes and defined a consolidated set of Excel based data input sheets and reports.
The Kosmotive people are passionate about their mission, but day to day operations confront them also with challenges from time to time. If our solution will be able to help them a little to overcome these, we have reached our goal.
