16 personalities to rule them all
The Myers-Briggs model of personalities can solve for you many self-doubting questions.
We spend our lives considering ourselves unique. We think that we have an one-of-a-kind personality that cannot be replicated. Maybe though, you need to learn about the 16 personality types according to the Myers-Briggs model.
Yeah, you heard me right, every person on this earth can be segmented in on those personality types and you are no exception to this.
And surprise-surprise, you are not awkward and weird. Most probably there is 1/16th of the global population who behaves, thinks, feels and reacts in a very similar way that you do. But of course you do not realize that because you treat yourself as the center of the world.
The negative aspect of this, you are not unique. This is a massive ego hit. You are just part of a small sub-group of people with the same personality type as yourself. And you cannot escape the boundaries imposed by your personality type. Thus, if you feel sorry for yourself for not being outgoing or organized, probably it can be explained by this matrix.
The positive aspect of this, by understanding your personality type, you will discover and organize the layers inside you. You will realize what is your dominant characteristics and what are your weaknesses. You will understand what aspects of you need to be improved and which ones cannot be touched. You will also understand that you cannot have unrealistic expectations from yourself and you cannot fit to any environment or tackle any problem.
You cannot change your personality type, but you can change the magnitude of your attributes.
It is also beneficial that you can have a glimpse on the other personality types and to make sure that you have the proper defenses and the proper understanding of their idiosyncratic behaviors. Nothing good will come out of an attack to an architect’s ego and you should always expect a non-emotional response from the Logician. By understanding the basic differences among the various personality types you will get a serious competitive advantage when it comes to social engineering and socializing. Furthermore, you will understand the personality types that you have the greatest and the worst chemistry.
Learn your personality type, and you will never have self-doubting thoughts.
