(This story is going to be very short and I won’t put too much thought since I am practically brain dead. I have been in 8 hours run of almost nonstop coding, finishing an interview assignment from a startup here in Austin. I promised initially to the team that I will write no matter how shitty the writing is.)

While I am meal prepping this morning, I spent a minute or two to think hard about this week’s prompt: “Home for the holiday”. When I am thinking, I like to speak my mind out loud and perform some kind of dialogue with my self. I wonder to my self, what makes “Home” different from any other place out there?
I thought the answer to the question is obvious, but after having a debate with my self — with me performing two different voices to represent two different people — I found that the question not as easy to answer.

At first, I think “home” is a place where you came from. But what the heck does this mean? Is it a place where you were born? Is it a place where you spent the most of your time? Is it the place where you feel most comfortable with being yourself?

I guess the definition of “home” ties strongly to your identity and principles. Some people may feel that they have an identity that is very rooted in their origin, some people may feel that they have a much more dynamic identity that changes over time.

Some people may feel that a home is unique and never changes, some people might be able to create new home every now and then.

Whatever it is, I think it’s important to have a clear understanding of your principle and identity, so that you can be firm on what home really means to you.

Happy holiday!
