SAP Certified Development Associate - SAP Extension Suite — 2022 — Tips for taking the exam
Hello everyone,
I’ve just passed one of SAP’s certifications: “SAP Certified Development Associate — SAP Extension Suite”. It’s a challenging exam as this is a new technology and changes frequently from SAP. So I think I should share some tips on taking this exam for those who need it.
1/ Register for the exam
First thing first, you need to set up your goal for taking the exam. After you committed to yourself you want to get this certification. Go to check out the certification details from SAP with this link:
Nowaday, SAP made it really easy to get their certification. Not only that you can take the exam online, from anywhere, but also that you can prepare & study for the exam online. All the materials needed for the exam can be accessed online. If you access the above link, SAP also give you details instruction on how to prepare for the exam.
The good news for taking certification on new cloud-based technology from SAP is that it’s totally free until certification. SAP provides you with all the material (books, tutorials, documents,…) and practices environment (trial version of SAP BTP) to learn and prepare for the exam.
All you need to do is to spend time for prepare the exam
2/ Preparation
After you registered for the exam, you can prepare for the exam in 2 approaches:
- Free: learn using the free learning journey from SAP.
- Paid: learn using the paid version of SAP Learning Hub.
From my experience, for cloud-based topics (like SAP Extension Suite), you should use the “Free” approach, because they provide good material compared to the paid version (SAP Learning hub).
The new Learning Journey design (Free version) is far better for learners to keep track of their progress than SAP Learning Hub. I think SAP Did an excellent job of building these learning journey features, which really attract new members to join their technology ecosystem.
Learning with SAP is really easy now. For either approach, you will learn theoretical knowledge along with hands-on practice with the trial version of SAP BTP. Since the trial version is free, you don’t need to pay anything.
The content for this exam is not too long (10 hours of continuous learning). I suggest you spend more time preparing for the exam:
- Practice as much as possible. As the exam will ask details & practice questions.
- Pay attention to the numbers of BTP platforms (like maximum app size; refresh time…) because they will appear in the exam.
A good way for learning is to spend 1–2 hours a day to learn this topic. Because knowledge is built up over time. It will be much more efficient than spending large amount of time before the exam.
3/ Exam Appointment Booking
After you get familiar with the exam’s content by going through the certification’s content, you can book an exam appointment. It will cost you around 150 USD — 300 USD depending on the number of attempts (1 or 6 attempts) you want to have:
In my experience, it’s better that you book CER006 for 6 attempts to take multiple certifications in a year. It’s will be more cost-benefit; and it’s easier for you to plan your learning (that year will be your learning year).
4/ During the exam
Be well prepared and you will be fine.
For those who are new to SAP’s certification, you should read all the instructions carefully.

The last thing I want to say is that taking SAP Certification is way easier than before thanks to the advanced technologies (online learning & exam). So take your chance and get certified :)
Good luck! ^_^
