Reach For The Stars
We have come to the very end of the SCI-project course. Grande Finale is over, final presentations have been held and writing this blog is one of the last things that is left anymore. So, what are our feelings at this point? First, let’s dive into the Grande Finale and thereafter talk about the big picture.
Our state before the final presentation can be described with three feelings: enthusiasm, excitement and a bit of stress. Everything seemed to be great: the poster, the presentation itself and last but not least, the application. The Grande Finale was the climax of the entire course and we wanted everything to be in its finest condition. The last adjustments to our demo were made in the very morning, basically few hours before our presentation. Uncertainty about the additional functionalities of our demo raised the stress levels a bit. Luckily, there was no reason for that. The presentation as a whole was a success and demo was great. What a relief! However, this was not only the case in our situation. After seeing what other teams had created, it can be said that all the teams made a great job!
So Grande Finale was successful but how about the entire course? From our point of view the course gave a lot to us. We learned new things, new perspectives and met new people as well. This course was definitely useful. By briefly summarising our final report, one of the things was common to every team member: growing as an individual. If that is something one can get from this course, one can’t simply ignore the potential and advantages this course can provide.
As a whole, it seems that we created a useful application which has a great potential. Now one could ask us a very simple question. What’s next? What are our plans for the future? Well, that’s a great question. I’m glad you pointed that out as we have thought these same questions with our team too. The companies that we visited were very interested about our application. One of the possible plans is to sell it which would be cool.
Another option that we have is to continue product development and try to make the application successful or to sell it later. We even thought about establishing a startup but the most remarkable barrier is how much time each member could sacrifice for it. How much passion do we have for this? By considering all different options we agreed to continue working with the application at least for a bit more. Some of our tech team members will initially integrate the application to popular chat applications such as Telegram or Slack. We aim test the concept with larger user group and in the best case scenario gather a pretty wide user base for our application. If this is successful step, we will consider our next steps and if not we can continue with the plan of selling the concept. If the application gets relatively lots of users it can be sold with higher price than what we could expect at the moment. Alternatively, if it truly gets a lot of users, there is always the option to establish a startup about all of this.
To put it altogether we have loads of options for the future of satisFactory. All we need to do is try something that works out. Whatever we will eventually do, one thing is clear. We will reach for the stars.
