Having problems hosting static website on AWS S3 and route 53? You might’ve missed a step.

I went through a lot of trouble trying to host my third website on S3. Well having a static site on S3 is easy. But, to point a domain towards a static hosting enabled S3 bucket was proving difficult. I wasn’t able to point by Alias records to my s3 bucket.

Turns out, the name of the bucket has to be the same as the domain name for you to be able to host a static webpage on your domain. Since my domain name is sauravsharma.net by bucket name is sauravsharma.net too. Problem solved and rest was easy.
