“A Change of Heart” Letter to the Editor

Author of The Biotech Century, Jeremy Rifkin, argues in his article “A Change of Heart about Animals,” that humans should feel more empathetic about animals being that they have similar characteristics to humans. He does this by listing research that explains each shared characteristic. As Rifkin stated, Germany is the first nations to guarantee animal rights in its Constitution, I believe that this is the action that the United States need to take.

The extensive amount of research that has been conducted proving animals emotions has created law courses that focus on animal’s rights. Organizations like the ASPCA work to protect animal rights as well. This steady increase in activism is what needs to happen in order for animals rights to become the United States Constitution’s 28th amendment.
