PC Shota

So there’s this club on campus that’s infamous on Yik Yak, dresses a little too well, and is devoted to making Berkeley more beautiful. They took a chance on me about a year ago.

It all started with this bunch…

PC Shota

We got to know each other through a Humans of New York styled shoot.

Nathan and I came across a nice patch of concrete at the Glade. Eric and I made it onto the top floor of Evans. The views were exceptional.

We embraced our sp00py side.

Brandon brought in his lego bits, and we got a little freaky. Shooting something that tiny in stature is a good challenge. It makes you rethink your perspective.

Brandon, professional snapchatter.

I got inspired by Prom Night, a horror movie. I pulled up a group prom shot on my phone for the backdrop of my lego dude. There was a lot of colors going on so I made the photo black and white. Since the lego dude is white with black attire — I thought there was a great opportunity for contrast.

We learned about external flash.

The white wall wasn’t white enough so we amped up the exposure using the brush tool on Lightroom. I was never a fan of flash because it really accentuates every blemish…but that just gave me a chance to practice manipulating my face with Photoshop.

We got to work in the club studio.

The room was filled with body heat, good jams, and snapchatting phones.

And we played a ROUND (haha, get it?) with the ring light.

So this annulus of a light source is suppose to reflect off your eyes for a halo-like effect.

There was also retreat, where we made some new friends.

Irene and I still can’t get over this candid shot of us (!!!) Thanks, Brandon. :)

I got to go shooting with Eric during the Blood Moon

This kid is great (!!!) He remembered my birthday after I casually mentioned it, he booked a zipcar within minutes of me asking if he was up for shooting (and I asked him super last minute), he’s down for a good manicure, and he has a huge heart.

PC Eric

and I went around San Francisco with Kevin during Thanksgiving Break.

Dang. I can’t say enough good things about this guy. I’ll just start with: I thought he was David Bui when we first met on BART…

PC Kevin

We ended with Banquet.

I got to take home a couple of mason jars (from the table decor !!!) and these great cell phone quality pictures.

PC Aish

And here’s to all the fun we had in between…

— Thanks for everything.
