First post in a heck of a long time, it’s an 👁-opener IMHO.

I’m just going to drop some thoughts on being a cofounder of a startup in the men’s health space:

MEASURING SUCCESS: being hard on yourself is always the default. You create your own 📉📈 metrics and disappoint yourself when you don’t unicorn in 6 months. YOU ARE NOT A SOFTWARE STARTUP BACKED BY ANDREESEN HOROWITZ.

HOURS: Not working 9–5 is an adjustment. When something comes up, you can’t always leave it until 9am tomorrow. (My wife doesn’t always love this one 😉, my laptop came along with us on our honeymoon in Bali)

OFFICE WHAT?: Office space is not on the top of the list of importance. $5 ☕️ is sometimes the key to a day in an “office”.

BURN RATE: You become the accountant, the CFO, the Dad, call it what you want. Watching the finances is on you. Nobody else.

UNLMTD CREATIVE ENERGY: When branding, marketing, and just growing a brand in general, the creative juices can’t stop flowing. Feelin’ blue, get yourself some ‘spiration and get back on the grind.

LEADS: when starting your own business, you create leads, follow them through, and although wins are always celebrated, losses shouldn’t always be mourned for, a lead is just that.

DOUBT: your friends are analysts at JP Morgan, Property mangers, VP’s in their family business that spanned 4 generations etc, and you’re starting from the bottom.

A bit of hustle and a lot of confidence goes a long way.

Cheers.
