Hundreds of Norwegian oil platform workers go on strike

Wage negotiations between drilling companies and the industry’s labour union have hit an impasse, leading to over 600 rig workers on nine installations going on strike from July 10. UPI reports.

Another 900 workers on 20 installations could take further action July 15 unless a settlement is reached.

Labor groups say they want an 8 percent increase in salary. It’s the second planned labor action in the region so far this month.
