4 Reasons Why ‘Stranger Things’ Has Created a Movement of Kid Horror Films and TV
And believe it or not, we’re not just talking about Stephen King’s ‘IT.’
To be fair, Stranger Things certainly had help from the likes of the Goonies, Monster Squad, and the original IT movie (and book) everyone was always so fond of. It was like horror and thrills literally came from kids! And rightly so: after all, Goosebumps (and so many other kid shows) continue to thrill in this horror genre.
The thing is, for a time, we NEVER saw that type of horror film ever come out.
And then, Stranger Things hit Netflix. Nostalgia hit. Then the likes of the IT remake smashed the box office, and a few stars from there propelled just as much as the actual cast of the Netflix show (in fact, one actor from Stranger Things landed one of the roles on said IT remake).
It was then that we all realized: the horror genre certainly does now belong to the kids. They are the stars now. And here’s four reasons why that’s the case:
