We are launching a free demo activity into schools for the last weeks of term to help get kids coding. Our Summer CSS Challenge pairs students up to learn about and use CSS (the styling language of the web) in a 30 minute classroom activity.

This will be free for schools, and is available by signing up an account at www.schoolofcode.io and then letting us know you are a teacher by emailing demo@schoolofcode.co.uk.

10 Step Guide

  1. Sign up at www.schoolofcode.io
  2. Email us with your username at demo@schoolofcode.co.uk
  3. We will activate you as a teacher — log out, log back in, and you will see the teacher dashboard
  4. Create a class by clicking Class Management and then Create a Class
  5. Enter the name of your class, and a passphrase (if you want to control who can sign up)
  6. Students register accounts, and then click Join a Class
  7. They choose your class and enter the passphrase (if you made one)
  8. They are in! Now, you can create a challenge for the whole class at the same time by going back to the home screen, creating a room with the challenge as Summer Coding, and pressing the Invite Class button
  9. Select your class name from the dropdown options, click Create for Class
  10. Students will have a new room available to play in pairs (automatically generated). Let them try out CSS coding!

Give it a go!
