Effects of Stress

There are many different problems that emerge from stress. Some very common ones are depression or anxiety. However, many parents worry that the medications that will help their child will prevent them from going to their dream college. One that not very many people worry about is the idea that some teens “lose the ability to function.” This looks like a teen sleeping all day or spending a lot of time alone. Another problem that can arise is substance abuse. Teens will turn to alcohol or marijuana to cope with stress because they have nothing else to do or turn to.

Many teachers try to stager exams or projects to space them out but in my experience this is not successful. When each class tries to space them out the tests land on every single day. For example, Monday I would have a spanish test. Tuesday, I could have a history project due. Wednesday I could have a math test and Thursday I would have an english presentation and have to read three chapters in a certain book. And finally on Friday I could have chemistry test. It is a lot to get done and there aren’t any breaks.
