If you surf social media then it is inevitable that at some point weird whacky things will be presented to you as “truth”. How should you evaluate such claims, should they be taken as face value or should you instead be highly skeptical?

Let’s work a case study.

The Liquid Rock Claim

The above image of some supposedly liquid rock pops up. It is posted in Facebook along with this question …

Any stonemasons out there that can explain this 10,000 year old piece of liquefied granit?

Side note: Yes, I know, the spelling should of course be “granite”, but let’s allow that to slide by.
