A Christian Dirce, by Henryk Siemiradzki. A Christian woman is martyred under Nero in this re-enactment of the myth of Dirce (painting by Henryk Siemiradzki, 1897, National Museum, Warsaw).

This is a story about a Christian College in CA that has been ordered by the state to close.

Is this an example of Christian Persecution?

Why did this happen, what motivated such a drastic step?

For that to happen you need to be so egregious, and so shockingly bad, that the step is taken.

They did indeed not only manage to tick all the boxes marked “bad”, but went way beyond even that. First, before we get into this, let’s first talk about something that is oh so inevitable a response.

“We are being Persecuted for our beliefs“

There exists a prevailing persecution narrative within many strands of Christian belief that promotes the idea that the evil world is opposed to the goodness within Christianity, hence wherever Christianity rises up there will be active opposition and attempts to shut it all down.

To use religious imagery …

The light shines in the darkness, and the dark comprehends it not.

Jesus himself is famously quoted as saying …

Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are you when people insult you…

In the post-truth age, we are awash with many dubious claims; gods, ghosts, aliens, conspiracies, and other mysterious things. Here we strive to work out what is really true and what is sincerly belived but is just a myth.
