It finally happened. I’ve been expecting something like this since Obama (greatest president since FDR) was elected. As always, the usual suspects have lined up to, yet again, move the goal posts, work the refs (or whatever metaphor for sophism you like) to make this atrocity seem if not normal a minor faux pas. Worse, far too many have gone beyond the usual gaslighting and childish assertions that the Dems and the Left behave similarly to claiming this traitorous terrorism is somehow patriotic.

Then there is the disgustingly cowardly behavior of some of the biggest cheerleaders that egged on this horror who now are hysterically denouncing their former hero. <cough> Cheney <cough> (though she’s far from the only one). While the Democratic Party may have to accept that slimy support, embracing such scum is a recipe for failure. They have a long, long history of lies and broken promises on their records.

The kid-glove treatment of the terrorists is yet further evidence that these racist Nazis have thoroughly infiltrated law enforcement right across the country and at all levels right up to the FBI and Homeland security. It is LONG overdue for the Democratic Party and the left to stop pretending that “that can’t happen here”. It has been happening for 30 years now and this is just the most recent in a long series of escalations. I’ve been saying for decades now that this has an eerie resemblance to the lead up to the NAZI take-over of Germany. How anyone could look at how the Iran-Contra scandal went down and NOT see that still baffles me.

Yeah… Fuck them. I have always been anti-fascist. Woody Guthrie is one of my heroes. I hate big business and commercial banks with a visceral passion (I have never carried a credit card). All this hatred for anti-fascists is flat out anti-democratic and acting on that hatred is seditious. Every single elected official that has opposed the election result belongs in jail. They have gone far, far beyond merely betraying their oath of office with this disgusting behavior. By pointing to anti-fascist sentiment and portraying it as flat-out terrorism they have thrown shit on the graves of the brave men and women who died fighting NAZI Germany’s, Fascist Party Italy’s, and Imperial Japanese hatred and greed. All three used racism as a justification for murder, rape, torture, and the plunder of much of the wealth of the world at the time. This is why big business’ denunciations of the current horror rings so hollow for me. They have profited handsomely for decades on this creeping subversion of democratic principles.

Hah… yeah… I’ll believe it when I see it. I remember the aftermath of Watergate all too well. Jimmy Carter may not have been one of our more effective presidents, but he was and remains the most honest and ethical one. And, he has devoted his entire life after the presidency to making this world a better place rather than enriching himself like nearly every one since. Obama hasn’t done too badly there, but he’s no Carter, not by a long shot. Check in 3 years from now when Biden (or more likely Harris) is running for president. What will be the death toll, hmmm? 70+ million suckers and criminals who voted for that monster trying to cling to power right now. How will they respond to a further loss of privilege? I’m especially speaking to the rich fucks who have fanned the flames of this mess. Facebook, Exxon-Mobil, Walmart, Fox, Dupont, Agri/fast food, and that perennial boogyman the various weapons producers… we all know the line-up at this point. The aristocracy of the U.S. for whom the rule of law never applies. They will fight change with every weapon in their arsenal while proclaiming their righteous virtue from their high horses. Who will be their brown-shirts? Yeah, we’ve seen that now and seen how they’ve been protected from the full weight of law enforcement.

What is there to say? He’s doing the same damn thing he’s been doing for the last 30+ years. Lie, break promises to the opposition, and strenuously fight tooth and nail for his corporate masters in seeking ever more power and privileges. Support having a trial in the Senate? HAH! That promise got broken in less than 24 hours. IF there is a trial in the Senate, it won’t happen until he’s the minority leader and isn’t in a position to stop it outright. Herr Trump will have to be forcibly removed from the White House after Biden is sworn in.
As with Watergate it’s a matter of following the money. Watch what they actually do and ignore the stinking gas coming from their mouths. And that goes double for so-called Democratic lawmakers who have allowed things to deteriorate to this point. (Yeah, I’m looking at you Bubba Clinton and Al Gore among others who sold the Left on the betrayal of triangulation). Biden has shown some chops being VP to Obama. Harris is on my watch-list as a DLC golden girl. The stakes have gotten very high. Appeasement will lead to dictatorship. We are already seeing Amazon, Facebook, and Twitter take on enforcement that is the duty of our system of government not a bunch of wealthy fucks answerable only to other wealthy fucks. This is very, very bad for the rule of law and the egalitarian principles essential to a democratic government. Sure as shit stinks this will be hauled out as president for censoring the Left. (As the Chicago and LA riots of ’68 have been the go-to event to justify the militarization of the police). Funny how the Tulsa riot in the 1920’s that left over 100 dead and thousands homeless and the Oklahoma federal building bombing get forgotten when that comes up.

Yeah, we got that right now. ICE is the U.S.’s SS. See what tax-cuts have bought us? Underfunded schools and two generations who have essentially no knowledge of history. Then there’s Guantanamo…

All these were things that Hitler and the NAZI party were pilloried for in the 20’s and 30’s. And were used by the Allies to motivate the home front to support the war once Poland went down. (Pearl Harbor for the US)
News feeds are talking about how the Georgia legislature is moving to restrict all non-white voting, but this is going on all over the country and not just ethnic minorities. PA stopped me from voting this cycle with their registration games. The restrictions on city voting are also aimed at whites on the left. And since the near-suburbs also leaned left this cycle those districts will also be targeted for voting barriers. The battle is broader and deeper than the Democratic Party is willing to declare in mass media (thanks to them poo-pooing Hillary Clinton’s warning of the activities of right-wing institutions). The wealthiest families in the US (and Australia and Saudi Arabia) have bank-rolled this at every level. Mostly shamelessly in public as well. And the media (shackled to advertising revenue) has let it slide.
Sickened but not surprised…
Yeah, I’m sickened but not surprised. I’ve been watching this develop for my entire life thanks to a grandmother who was a closet Socialist during the McCarthy era who sat with me every news program and swore a blue streak at the TV (her vitriol during the ’72 campaign was epic).
It looks like the country has bought two years of reprieve. Let’s hope it’s a trend back to sanity rather than a crumbling ledge we cling to for a time during our fall into the abyss.
