PC getting old? Here’s an excellent solution to revive it and make it blazing fast.

As our laptops and computers are getting old day by day and year after year the chipset inside which powers them up grows older along with them in the same fashion. Inherently decreasing the speed of the same. Adding icing to the cake is the upgrades to the windows operating system which slows down the computing experience. Now, in order to overcome this problem there are three major choices in your bag to choose from.

1. Drop your PC in the scrap or trash.

2. Change the internals and simultaneously upgrading them into the latest internals which are available in the market.

3. Install another operating system in your pc which is blazing fast and which works on every single computer which is available on this planet (currently only PCs consisting of intel chip inside independent of any generation and Ahem Ahem! Not Apple computers).

Let’s check it out starting from the first look of the operating system itself which you may get.

Well, looks somewhat familiar, right? well that’s correct, the operating system in the image above is none other than android operating system.

An Android operating system on a PC, surprised, right? and yes to clarify its not the android emulator running on the windows, it’s the pure android experience which you can get by just following some simple procedural steps. The advantage of this is that you can run this operating system on any old laptop or computer which has intel chipset inside, and another advantage would be sweet spot for all the android lovers who wants to install it on their computers, that is, it can be installed as a dual boot along with your old windows running parallel without hampering your personal data and taking just about 32 gigs of your storage disk space. Well you read that right as well.

Overall, it’s the best experience that anyone can get using their old computers or even their existing computers giving them a fresh look. Surprisingly, the advantages of this operating system are not only the one that I had mentioned above, but also, you can install this operating system on your pen drive considering that your pen drive is USB 3.0 or above for good booting as well as read and write speeds.

Last but not the least the name of this android operating system is Remix OS from developer Jide and his re-imagination of Android operating system that provides a desktop-like windowed environment, powered by Android, to grant the benefits of the mobile OS with productivity characteristics of a desktop operating system such as a taskbar, true multitasking, and more. It’s currently available on hardware made by Jide, such as the Remix Mini, but is also available as a bootable operating system for X86 device on the website developed by him and thankfully it is free to download.

One of the major advantages of Remix OS is the plethora of Android apps that it has access to (ahem, considering that you get the google play store same as that on your Android phone), allowing you to transform old, unused laptops into Netflix, Spotify, Saavn, Gaana and many other third-party applications along with streaming machines.

Games are also on the table, as are productivity apps like Microsoft Office, which is free on Android. The ability to boot to Remix OS from any machine will breathe new life into old, tired PCs, but there’s still quite a bit of smoothing out to be done.

So, with no further adue let’s start with the procedure.

Step 1- Firstly to download the operating system there should exist one besides you, right? (sorry for the bad joke) now in order to get that I will be linking you the official website so go ahead and straight away download the zip file on to your computer.

Step 2- Next important step is little bit complex but once down rest process is like learning the word — WORD (again sorry for the bad one here). So, the step starts with right clicking the Windows logo or simply the start button and selecting disk management (I’ll post some images down below so that you may get a brief idea about it). After this you will get a pop-up windows showing all the disk information. Now, go on to any one of the disk majorly choose the one which has more disk space in it and simply right click in the area as shown below. Now click the ‘Shrink volume’ option. Another pop-up window will appear, simply choose or type down the disk space having in the mind that the least space you will need would be 32 gig that is about 32000 MB giving some more space won’t hamper anything so do the same. (Follow the order as shown in the images below)

Step 3- We move on to the next step to extract the downloaded file on that location itself where it was originally stored.

Step 4- Install the .exe setup file of the Remix OS and a pop-up window will open up.

Step 5- In the window opened, search for the .iso file which you had extracted before and press select and simultaneously select the drive which you had created in the Step 2.

Step 6- Just click next to carry forward the installation. Now, let the program do the rest of the work.

Step 7- Click reboot.

Step 8- After a simple restart of your PC a selection screen will open up which will prompt you to choose the desired operating system either between windows or the other option which will be your Remix OS simply denoted as ‘Remix OS’ over there.

Step 9- Well guess what? Eureka!!! you have done it! simply select the Remix OS option and let the operating system has its first boot which may take some time in order to optimize the apps along with the operating system itself. And in that case, you can take a coffee break if you like.

Step 10- A new setup screen will appear and rest of the process is same as you perform on your android phone when you buy it new. Simply setup your Wi-Fi along with the google account and Woohla! Welcome to the Remix OS.

The speed which you may get on this operating system is blazing fast and you may not consider throwing away your PCs after this. Remix OS is well optimized for the PCs while some of the rare apps inside it aren’t and you may get some minor bugs here and there which are comparatively negligible.

But mostly big players have updated their apps to make full use of this ecosystem. You may have heard of Samsung’s new DEX version of android running on your pc, well now you got that too.
