Producing a visual story with the iPhone… Really?

Video shooting. Ready? CLAP!

On a sunny Tuesday morning, our group took the BART to the beautiful campus of UC Berkeley. After a group photo in front of the Library, we joined Richard Taylor and Vicki Hammarstedt of the Advanced Media Institute for a workshop about how to film with a smartphone.

Some of us were quite astonished to discover all the possibilities that a ‘simple’ iPhone can offer for producing a video. In just 3 hours, our two great ‘guides’ managed to give us a lot of very well synthesized and useful information about how to create a visual story with an iPhone: equipment, settings, tripods, zoom, focus, storage, stability, background, angle, slow motion, light, sound, microphone, how to prepare an interview, etc.

After a few video shootings, we were ready to win the Oscar for the best interview on the UC Berkeley campus!

Very serious on the UC Berkeley campus.
