Live Long and Live Healthy

200,000 years of existence of humankind, 5,000 years of medical practices of various forms, centuries’ old health and wellness practices, and decades of research into modern medicine. All these efforts towards one primary goal, to live a healthy and happy life.

Recently I came across an article discussing the collective efforts humans have put in to achieve a healthier way of living the 70–80 yrs (on average) on planet Earth. We have always strived towards attaining medical successes in increasing life expectancy and, of late, towards mental and emotional wellness. Digging a little deeper, what fascinated me the most was that we can accomplish this through simple yet fantastically effective ways that we can take up in our daily life and that too without a pinch of extra hassle!

Sounds cool, right?

Let me discuss some most common habits that we can take up to improve our health and, in turn, our mental and emotional well-being. As always, nothing is more satiating than backing our ideas with scientific logic.

Let’s start!

- First glass of water, let’s make it more perfect

We know for a fact that drinking a glass of water first thing in the morning works like magic in our bowel moments. What we might not be aware of is to drink it from a copper utensil. Leaving water overnight in a copper vessel and drinking it first thing in the morning helps digestion and boosts our immunity, strengthens our joints, decreases joint healing time, and soothes pain.

Copper is the principal component in the production of melanin in our bodies. Melanin helps in preventing skin damages and provides clear and acne-free skin. On top of that, copper being a great antioxidant, helps produce new and healthy skin at a faster pace.

Hence, you can say goodbye to facials fine lines for a little longer in your life.

The only thing you need to make sure of is to buy genuine copper-made utensils, free from metal mixing. These are available easily on many e-commerce websites.

- Walk (and probably talk) barefoot on grass

Walking is the most primary habit that we all should inculcate and follow in our daily routine. There is ’n’ number of positive effects of walking, be it light or brisk, or even running. It helps maintain body shape, controls increase in body fat, helps in speeding up the digestion process, and many more. Now add to it a 15–30 minute daily walk, barefoot, on grass, or even a flat surface, as long as you have direct contact with the earth. The process even has a technical name for it, ‘grounding’. (Sounds like some heavy scientific concept!)

Nature, by itself, intended us to walk barefoot and has assigned rewards for the same. Our feet have many nerve endings. Their direct contact with the earth's surface leads to the transmission of electric charge from the body and, invariably, helps various psychological measures. The so-called acupressure points correspond to different organs in the body. A massage to them is a relief to these body organs.

Additionally, walking barefoot helps in maintaining the circadian (Google!) rhythm of our bodies. This leads to regulation of body temperatures, maintenance of hormonal release, and most importantly, control over increase/decrease in blood pressure. I have personally experienced the release of tension from my body when I walk on freshly mowed grass…under the night sky…with a cool breeze flowing through my head.

-Eating in right quantity using RIGHT CUTLERY

Silverware has been in our tradition and customs for centuries now. It was used all over the world, by people of all ranks, in every cuisine. With time, we have replaced it with several fancy and cheap materials. It is advisable to use them in our daily cutlery selection plans, now more than ever.

Silver has several anti-viral and antibacterial properties and does help revitalize the food that we eat.

The sole reason for people shifting towards other types of cutlery choices and stainless steel revolutionizing the industry is the bad taste developed while eating with silver spoons or using silver plates. Barring that, the effects of using silverware at least once in a daily meal are beneficial.

The best part about following the mentioned practices/methods is that it is free from adverse side-effects on our body.

  • A short walk every day can bring you nothing but physical and spiritual happiness in your daily life.
  • Copper is beneficial for our body, so authentic and pure copper vessel can provide the body with the required copper ion supply.
  • Silver might react with some types of acid is present in our food, but this will also lead mainly to the taste of the food. Hence, it might be used occasionally to get its positive effects on our body.

We used to follow many such practices in the past that might have faded in recent times amongst a large group of people. Let us all try to get the age-old knowledge and wisdom back in our life because

healthy life is the only life that is worth living

(my personal quote and motto of life!)
