“The purpose of psychology is to give us a completely different idea of the things we know best.”

A fictional book may tell you about the consequences of being more observant of what’s happening around you. How? From page one to the last one, each thing, each dialogue is related, no event in that book is irrelevant. That is the product of being vigilant. How we can have this watch fullness in real life? The answer is plain and it is in your next psychology book.

American Psychological Association defines psychology as,

“Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. The discipline embraces all aspects of the human experience — from the functions of the brain to the actions of nations, from child development to care for the aged. In every conceivable setting from scientific research centers to mental healthcare services, "the understanding of behavior" is the enterprise of psychologists.”

Psychology books for everyone

Psychological book is promising information. You don’t need to have a psychological background to read and comprehend a psychology book. Theoretical and applied psychology are two separate categories. Applied psychology books have a wide variety and a compelling flow.

Psychology textbooks are sometimes boring for non-academic readers because they don’t go with the flow. The writer has to keep himself restricted. But the non-academic category is worth reading. It will work for you if you don’t even know the ABC of psychology.

My journey of Psychology reading:

I had no nerve for psychology books throughout my educational career. I didn’t entertain the thought of reading a psychology book. But being a nonfiction writer has asked me to mend my ways and do some psychology reading.

And after reading some books in this genre (non-academic), I came to know how my preconception has kept me from reading such wonderful stuff. I was wrong to suppose them a boring and terrible read.

To know what is happening in the background, you have to make room for books from this genre.

If you are not a big of psychological books, even then you should start one. In the beginning, keep it light. Reading a small of the book in question will soon turn into your habit and you would love them like any fictional book.

How psychology betters our lives?

In many ways, these books are going to help you. Some of them include,

To know more about yourself

To understand human behavior and nature

To improve mental focus

To be more observant

To learn new things in an enjoyable way

To comprehend the working of the conscious and subconscious mind.

And one big thing, after knowing the cause of things, we accept them as reality and work to mend our ways.

Life is more than what we see. To manage ourselves properly we have to see beyond the words and to discover apart from the obvious.

“Once you start making the effort to ‘wake yourself up’—that is, be more mindful in your activities—you suddenly start appreciating life a lot more.”

–Robert Biswas-Diener

A psychology book is fascinating in its own ways. If you are a reader or a writer, it will make you even better. So, for better understanding and better enjoying this life, turn to a psychology book. Happy Reading!
