These last few weeks we’ve seen headline after headline of record-breaking hurricanes flooding highways, destroying buildings, and even — quite tragically — taking human lives.

The number one priority is getting help to the people that need it. You can donate to organizations like Red Cross to help those affected.

No one likes to talk about politics in times of tragedy. But this is exactly the right time to be talking about climate change. Scientists have been warning us for years that climate change is going to have irreversible consequences. We need to start taking this issue seriously.

We cannot argue that climate change is the direct cause of any single storm — weather events are influenced by way too many factors for climatologists to be able to come to those conclusions. What we do know, however, is that these events are expected to be more common and more extreme on average as we continue to release greenhouse gases into the air.

In response to these hurricanes, we have updated our article Evidence for Climate Change which gives a comprehensive breakdown of the evidence and rhetoric that backs up climate science. If you do not believe in climate change, we hope to convince you in this article. If you do believe in climate change, we hope to supplement your repertoire of facts and reasoning.

This issue is extremely close to our hearts. It is important that we take care of the planet and be a part of the solution. One of the ways we can do that is by sharing information like this. Feel free to share this post with your friends, family, and anyone that doesn’t believe in climate change.
