I was going to tell a sodium and hydrogen joke. But, NaH

This is the first article of several articles about chemical elements. I’ll try each week to post about a different element. Each article will contain some interesting facts about the chosen elements.

Today it’s hydrogen. Discovered by Robert Boyle in 1671. Hydrogen, generates water, because if we burn Hydrogen we will get water.

I once told about a one basic principles of quantum theory, The tunnel effect. “Where I could see this effect?” my friend asked me. At that moment, I could only say in transistors. But, there is a more interesting phenomenon: The light we see from the sun!

Each moment there is a nuclear explosion on the sun. The common theory is that two atoms of hydrogen combines together in nuclear fusion. That creates helium and energy. The fusion accords due to the tunnel effect. So, Hydrogen is responsible for the light around us.

The most common element in Milky Way Galaxy, our galaxy.

This is so cool. It means hydrogen is all around us. Its so around us, that 10 percent of our wight is hydrogen.

The best friend. If you start thinking about elements as people with different personalities, life could be much easier.

Hydrogen is very friendly, it connects with almost every one. That means that in almost every chemical compounds you can find hydrogen.

This is all for now about hydrogen. Next time helium.
