We are actively looking for authors who want to submit their stories to Science of Minds. If you want to write for Science of Minds, you can find more information and step-by-step instructions here.

We publish non-fiction stories or articles that lie at the interface between brain research, psychology, philosophy and other disciplines.

We aim to publish stories that convey the latest scientific knowledge and are written clearly and understandably for the general public. We look for stories that have been written for the reader, give insights or meaningful advice, are informative, interesting and sometimes inspiring.

We usually publish in the Medium Partner Program so that our authors can be curated and can earn money with Medium. As a writer for Science of Minds, you can keep all of the earnings from your story.

Guidelines

  • Only original and previously unpublished drafts can be accepted.
  • The ideal length for stories on Medium is 4 to 7 minutes of reading time. While you can submit longer works, please do not submit pieces with less than 4 minutes of reading time.
  • Cite your sources. If you refer to others’ work (books, videos, graphics, audio, scientific articles …), please include a proper citation (for example, in APA format) and link to the original source.
  • If you use multimedia (like stock images), please credit the author of the work, providing a link and preferably also the copyright details as explained here.
  • Please refrain from inserting ads or spam into your story and make sure to follow the Medium content guidelines for publishing, the Medium curation guidelines and Medium best practices.

Step 1. Apply on Smedian with your final draft

Please sign up on “Smedian” and click the green button request to contribute to Science of Minds. You will need a link to your (unpublished) final draft on Medium for this process (you can generate a link to your draft by clicking the 3 dots next to your avatar).

We will also check the layout and add a main image, in case you haven’t done so. If any questions arise during this process, we will write you in the Smedian chat, so please make sure to check it.

We might also ask you if we (or you) can create an audio version of your story, which can be added to your story for reading impaired audiences and also published (with a reference to you) on our Science of Minds podcast. It appears on a range of podcasting platforms:
