The music incubator, which includes a community of music fans and creative collaborators called the Heavy Crew, aims to develop artists, show traction and partner with a major label within 24 months.

Atlanta, GA — June 30, 2020 — Heavy Sound Labs (www.heavysound.com), a music incubator for emerging artists and a community for creative collaborators looking to start careers in music, officially launches today. Its founder & CEO Jason Geter, who previously co-founded Grand Hustle Records, has a decades-long track record of discovering underdeveloped talent and amplifying them. He signed T.I. when he was 18 years old as well as Travis Scott when he only had 500 views on YouTube.

Heavy Sound Labs partners with artists at the development stage and strategically applies resources to amplify their audience and gain cultural traction with a goal of signing them with a major label within 24 months. Heavy Sound already works with artists AllStarrDaGreat (ADG), 47 Gino and Ralph Weah.

Heavy Sound Labs is the only talent incubator with an open application process on its website that any artist can go through. The application questions mirror the kinds of conversations Geter has had with prospective artists throughout his career, allowing Heavy Sound to scale its pool of talent and open up the opportunity to any interested artist.

The music incubator includes a community of music fans and creative collaborators called the Heavy Crew, which empowers people to enter the industry by giving them the opportunity to participate in the process of scouting, developing and amplifying talent. They are given access to proven executives within music and entertainment without the traditional gatekeeping business model.

Heavy Crew members earn points for promoting artists they love and can then use those points to get free merchandise and other product offerings. Through Heavy Crew’s Slack community and industry chats, members can also connect with each other for advice, guidance and resources ranging from videography to copywriting as they jumpstart their careers in the music industry.

Heavy Sound Labs is part of Science Inc., the Los Angeles-based studio and venture fund that partners with early-stage entrepreneurs to build transformative companies. Science is co-founded by Mike Jones, the former CEO of MySpace.

“Heavy Sound pairs Jason’s unmatched ability to identify and grow talent at the earliest stages of development with the Heavy Crew, a powerful digital network of creatives and fans who can help the artists gain cultural traction,” said Mike Jones, co-founder and managing partner of Science Inc. “The music incubator’s focus on empowering artists and providing a supportive community sets it apart from anything else in the industry. We’re thrilled to work closely with Jason and help Heavy Sound scale this new model in music.”

Heavy Sound Labs has built an environment of inclusivity through weekly programming like Heavy Talk, Sound Check and its Wednesday night community chat with the Heavy Crew. An aspiring artist or music enthusiast in Omaha, NE or Zimbabwe can join the Heavy Crew and create growth opportunities within the music industry.

“With Heavy Sound Labs, I want to get rid of the gatekeeping model in music so that anyone with passion, talent and a dedicated work ethic can enter the industry and thrive,” said Jason Geter, founder & CEO of Heavy Sound Labs. “Through our open artist application process and Heavy Crew community and network, we’re building a social utility that lets anyone break into the industry, get and give mentorship and succeed in music and entertainment.”
