As my search terms change from top restaurants to flourless recipes,

from Skiplagged flights to book recs,

from pregames to board games,

we’re given the gift of time.

Time to reflect on our passions,

Socially distant from our social agendas,

acutely aware of our controlled choices

with the sobering realization of our fate.

As we bunker inward, our gas tanks remain full.

While we dwell on empty toilet paper shelves, our carts continue to roll.

Masks cover our mouths but not our voices.

The pandemic can fill our lungs with fear but we can still choose to exhale.

Only we can confirm our mental state as positive or negative.
