Blockchain Companies to Focus Initially on Cross-Integrating Attribution,
Wallet and Platform Capabilities

Cambridge, MA and Timisoara, RO — JUNE 25, 2018 — ARTiFACTS, creator of the world’s first blockchain-based collaboration and attribution platform for scholarly research, and Scienceroot, the first blockchain-based scientific ecosystem integrating social networking, a funding platform, and decentralized publishing mechanism, have formed an alliance to advance the use of blockchain in scientific research and scholarly publishing.

Applying an open science model to their own product development initiatives, ARTiFACTS and Scienceroot will collaborate to improve researcher workflows, streamline new technology development, and explore new applications for blockchain-based solutions tailored to the scientific research and scholarly publishing community. The two companies will draw on their respective areas of expertise in scholarly publishing indexing and attribution (ARTiFACTS) and social networking and smart contracting (Scienceroot) to accelerate the use of blockchain technologies in the sciences.

“ARTiFACTS and Scienceroot are both working on complementary solutions to challenges that exist at different points in the scholarly research workflow, from solidifying attribution for individual research artifacts to tracking and indexing previous work to networking and contracting with other researchers and sponsors,” said ARTiFACTS President and Co-Founder, Courtney Morris. “By leveraging our collective capabilities and insights, we believe we will be able to not only speed development of new solutions, but also deliver more harmonized end-to-end solutions for the research community.”

Specific projects on which ARTiFACTS and Scienceroot have already begun collaborating, include solutions that integrate the ARTiFACTS attribution and citation capabilities with Scienceroot’s social networking and funding apparatus, integration of Scienceroot’s wallet and note booking capabilities on the ARTiFACTS platform, and the development of standards to ensure interoperability between blockchain-based scientific research solutions.

“ARTiFACTS and Scienceroot both have the same goals, which are to improve the creation and indexing of knowledge with the help of blockchain. Blockchain technology provides us the means to solving some of the problems the current scientific community is facing. Scienceroot aims to create an immutable and unimpeachable environment, so that researchers may collaborate, share their work and disseminate their results without the need to trust a third party. We believe that the collaboration among researchers and people aiming for the same target is vital. Therefore we join forces with ARTiFACTS to provide better solutions, adapted to the needs of the academic and scientific community” said Scienceroot Co-Founders Vlad Günther and Alexandru Chirita.

About ARTiFACTS

ARTiFACTS provides a user-friendly platform, purpose built for academic and scientific research that leverages blockchain technology. Researchers can record a valid and immutable chain of records in real-time, from the earliest stages of research for all research artifacts, including citing/attribution transactions. While today’s digital scholarship merely creates linkages among an artificially narrowed subset of indexed publications long after discoveries are made, ARTiFACTS focuses on capturing and linking knowledge from its initial ideation throughout the research process to informal and formal dissemination. By using the ARTiFACTS platform, researchers will be able to immutably prove ownership and existence of novel work, expand access to their research artifacts, provide and receive real-time attribution for novel work and more comprehensively and rapidly build and demonstrate their body of scholarly contributions.

About Scienceroot

Scienceroot aims to improve the scientific and research community using blockchain technology. The goal is to create an ecosystem where anyone in the scientific community around the globe will have the ability to gather funding, interact, discuss research ideas, collaborate and in the end, publish their work through a more efficient, open and transparent platform. Our scientific ecosystem will be powered by its own unique currency called Science Token (ST), which will be used to exchange funds, store articles on the blockchain, crowdfund scientific ideas, exchange services through our scientific marketplace and reward parties involved. Scienceroot will integrate all the critical functionalities needed by researchers, scientists and academics, making their day to day lives easier and allowing them to focus on maximizing their impact in the scientific world.
