New York, NY — July 30, 2020 — scite, an award-winning platform for discovering and evaluating scientific articles, and Rockefeller University Press (RUP), a leading publisher in the life sciences have partnered to improve how research articles are discovered and evaluated.

With this partnership, all relevant articles published in the Journal of Cell Biology (JCB), the Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM), and the Journal of General Physiology (JGP) will display Smart Citations from scite. Smart Citations allow researchers to see how a scientific paper has been cited by providing the context of the citation and indicating whether it provides supporting or disputing evidence for the cited claim.

This partnership also helps make RUP articles more discoverable as citation statements from RUP articles are now easily searchable on scite. To-date scite has extracted and analyzed over 620M citation statements from 18M full-text articles, including all articles published in JCB, JEM, and JGP. scite has also just released advanced search and a reference checking functionality to enhance the use of their platform.

Josh Nicholson, co-founder and CEO of scite says, “We’re very excited to be working with Rockefeller University Press. As a cell biologist, I know first-hand how rigorous RUP publications are. We’re happy to have them as a partner to advance citations, a critical part of scientific publishing.”

RUP Executive Director Susan King says, “We are committed to providing an exceptional experience to those who read and publish in our journals. Partnering with fellow New Yorkers scite contextualizes the impact of the research published in JCB, JEM and JGP beyond simple counts of total citations, and it increases the range and diversity of the article level metrics we provide.”
