scite is an award-winning platform for discovering and evaluating scientific articles via Smart Citations. Smart Citations allow users to see how a scientific paper has been cited by providing the context of the citation and a classification describing whether it provides supporting or disputing evidence for the cited claim.

At scite, we have been working to more effectively integrate our research tools into researchers’ workflows. Earlier this month, following the suggestions of thousands of users, we released the scite plug-in for Zotero, which lets you see at a glance how all of the articles in your reference library have been supported or disputed by others. If you’re one of the hundreds of thousands of students, researchers, or academics who rely on Zotero to manage their references, you can now bring the power of scite’s Smart Citations into your library.

Today, we are excited to announce that you can now sync your Zotero or Mendeley Library with scite to create a custom scite Dashboard. scite’s Dashboards offer more features and more information than can be added within a reference manager. In addition to Smart Citations, custom Dashboards allow users to:

  • View any editorial notices (i.e. retractions, corrections, errata, etc.)
  • Graph how the articles in the dashboard have been cited over time
  • Get notified when an article is cited or receives an editorial notice
  • Filter articles by title
  • View the scite report for each article in the dashboard
  • Share the dashboard with others
  • Download a CSV file of the citation data

Previously, creating custom Dashboards required importing a list of DOIs, either manually or by uploading a CSV file. Now, creating a Dashboard is effortless: with just a few clicks, you can add all the articles you’d like from your favorite reference manager.

Create custom Dashboards by importing from your Zotero or Mendeley library

To get started, simply click Create Dashboard on scite’s homepage to sync your Zotero or Mendeley account. From there, you can select any number of articles, folders, or subfolders that you would like to import to your new dashboard.

Choose which folders or articles in your library to add to the dashboard

Once you’ve created the dashboard, you can enable notifications by hitting the bell icon next to the dashboard name in order to receive an email whenever an article in your dashboard has received an update: either a new citation or an editorial notice.

You will also immediately see all the most important information on the articles you have imported: in the example dashboard below, there are 6 articles that have been retracted, 2 that have received corrections, and 1 with an erratum.

scite’s Dashboards include data on how each article has been cited, as well if any article has an editorial notice

With this new feature, we hope to help you check the reliability of your references in a fraction of the time, so you can spend less time checking your references and more time researching, writing, and exploring new ideas. Whether you want to keep a close eye on a few important articles or whether you want to keep track of every reference you’ve ever used, scite’s Dashboards allow you to do so.

See editorial notices for each article, sort articles by citations, or filter by article title
