Struggling with LFH (Learning From Home)?

Have you been spending entire school days on Zoom? Did that notification about last week’s screen time shock you? Are you still working towards exams or teacher assessments?

Education has taken a sharp turn and sometimes it feels like we are more reliant on technology than ever. But there’s no reason this has to be a bad thing!

For example, thanks to our video Lessons, Scoodle educators are accessible to thousands more students. Our growing library of Lessons give you an opportunity to take ownership for your learning and get access to the best educators in the UK.

Whether you’re looking for help with your upcoming maths GCSE mocks or Year 13 English Literature coursework, our quality videos will quench your thirst for knowledge.

Have you ever really thought about online learning?

One important thing to consider are the benefits of online learning, and how you can explore these for yourself.

Firstly, the convenience of Scoodle video Lessons is perhaps the best thing about it. You can learn anywhere and anytime, so you can make it work for you. For example, you could fit a quick video Lesson in before your 11am English class to quickly recap last week’s topic; or visit Pavlina’s GCSE Maths Lessons after a particularly complicated class first introducing quadratic equations (she’s incredible!).

Online learning also allows you to take your education at your own pace. This is especially useful if you’re finding it difficult to keep up with the rest of your class, or you’re way ahead of your peers and want to get stuck into some extra content. All of this can be found on Scoodle, of course.

Also, video Lessons are more interesting than classic classroom-style teaching, meaning they work well alongside other online learning you might be doing. Our educators use a wide range of techniques to make these as engaging as possible, just like your favourite YouTube creators. Most videos are under 15 mins but packed with everything you need to know for that specific topic, and more. Check out one of our favourites: Mathmagician.

Top Tips to get the most out of Scoodle

Now you know exactly why online learning and video Lessons are something to get excited about, we thought we’d give you some tips on how best to reap the benefits.

1. Do your research! There are so many educators making Lessons on Scoodle (and we’re growing every day!), so make sure find someone who really resonates with you. Filter for your subject and check out their profiles to find out more about them — many educators have free videos and a Q&A section for you to get to know their teaching style. Don’t know about you, but we think it’s pretty cool to be able to pick your teacher for once!

2. Make it your own. Not only are our educators continuously uploading video Lessons, they are also available for tailored 1-on-1 sessions! So feel free to message them in case you need some individual feedback or extra support on the content they’ve put out. Also, if there’s a topic you’d like to see made into a video Lesson, let us know here!

3. Fail to prepare, prepare to fail. The best way to include online learning as part of your day is to schedule it in advance. We’ve found this also helps avoiding every day feel like more of the same. You know yourself best, so if you’re an early bird or a night owl, set yourself a reminder to watch one or two video Lessons at a time that works for you. Your future self will thank you!

4. Develop your note-taking. To get the most benefit out of any online learning you’re doing, it’s important to actively retain information. The best way to do this is by taking notes (which will be handy when it comes to revision!). To make sure you don’t just end up doodling your crush’s name in bubble letters, the Cornell note-taking method is worth looking in to. It’s super efficient and you can use this method from GCSEs to A-Levels and beyond; it’s truly the gift that keeps on giving.

5. Ask Scoodle! The best things in life are convenient. If you have a burning question, make sure to check out our Q&A section where you can post your question to the 6,000+ educators on Scoodle and get a response in minutes!
