Did you know it’s very easy to grow your own candy canes?

Here’s a recipe our Xmas Elves have shared for some Christmas fun to have with the kids.

Step 1. Get the ingredients ready. You’ll need magic elf seeds & sugar.

Start with sugar & magic elf seeds.

What are magic elf seeds?
You can find them inside packs of jelly beans or Tic Tacs — you may even want to put them in their own little bag before giving them to your kiddies to increase the magic potency! (The seeds work best when you match the colour to the candy canes you want to grow.)

Step 2. Pour the sugar into a bowl & plant the magic elf seeds.

Pour in the sugar.

Pour enough sugar in so the candy canes won’t fall over when they’re fully grown.

Plant the seeds.

Plant the seeds in the sugar. Push them down a bit into the sugar to ensure they grow.

You can either plant them in colour groups per candy cane, or plant one seed per candy cane. Both will work but one option means more magic elf seeds can be eaten during the growing process!

Step 3. Wish with all your might that the elves will come visiting and sprinkle a little bit of magic onto the seeds.

The magic only happens when the kiddies are fast asleep in their beds so they’ll need to leave the bowl overnight. (When the kiddies have gone to sleep, do the old ‘switch-a-roo’)

Step 4. In the morning, get the kiddies to check and see if elf magic has granted their wish & turned the seeds into candy canes.

Magic! Fully grown candy canes!

The candy canes can then be popped onto the Christmas Tree (or eaten straight away).

Happy Christmas!
