Last month, the Scratch Team and over 9,000 Scratchers worldwide commemorated Scratch’s 15th birthday with our first-ever virtual Scratch Celebration.

We revisited some of our favorite Scratch moments during the celebration, danced to live music, led a create a-long in the ScratchJr editor, and even chatted with some Scratch Team members!

The event was just one part of the annual Scratch Week festivities — a time of year where Scratchers, educators, and their families join together online and in their local communities all around the world to reflect, share and celebrate the remarkable ways that they use Scratch to imagine, create, connect and play.

Each year, Scratchers’ wacky, kind, and genius creations remind us that Scratch is just as much about community as it is about creative coding.

Thank you for 15 years of safe, creative, and joyful coding on Scratch. As our founder, Mitch Resnick, shared at the celebration,

“It’s you who created Scratch. It’s you, the young people and educators around the world who made Scratch what it is today.”
