Introduction
I was delighted to watch the movie Good Deeds again today. It was being shown on a local TV channel. Good Deeds is a 2012 romantic by Tyler Perry who co-produced, directed, and starred in the movie — quite a feat. The film boasts an impressive lineup of stars like Gabrielle Union, Thandie Newton, Phylicia Rashad, and many others.
Tyler Perry’s films and productions always come with what I call a dose of necessary realness. He uses his films to serve up life and experience in good measure with lots of learning points along the way. Diary of A Mad Black Woman; Temptations/Confessions of A Marriage Counsellor, Acrimony and Why Did I Get Married are some of my favorites. Let’s not forget his hilarious antics in the Madea movies.
Synopsis
Wesley Deeds (Tyler Perry) is successfully managing his late father’s company and on the outside seems to have his life all sorted out. The company is doing well, he is engaged to be married and his life on course and predictable. But, in actual fact, he is unsatisfied and unfulfilled but does what needs to be done under the watchful eyes of his controlling mother (Phylicia Rashad) while having to deal with his brother’s constant sabotage.
