Poem

A Butterfly Kissed Me Today

A rendezvous on a sunny fall morning.

Monarch butterfly on red bricks path.
Image is public domain (created by DeepAI).

In the glare of a fall morning,
while over a herringbone path,
a monarch in orange and black
came circling around me,
landing on my bare arm,
regal and unafraid.

The sun was my only witness
that she loved me for a moment,
that she folded her wings for me.
Where she touched me, she left
no mark, just this poem,
and the thrill of her feet.
