A Second First Kiss
A Poem
We were kids
When we first kissed
I remember
The naive look
On your face
Your impish smile that
Lit up the whole place
But we were too shy
To look eye to eye
Our lips were tied
Our elation, in disguise
Now it seems like so many
Lifetimes have passed
That I’ve felt that bliss
So unsurpassed
I might not remember
The taste of your lips
But I remember it
Made me feel the feeling
I sure miss
Your lips must’ve tasted
Like some intoxicating wine
No wonder I am still drunk
You’re still on my mind
As I lay down and
That memory, I reminisce
I yearn to tell you
How much I miss
You, us, and
That state of bliss
Oh! Darling, I wish
I could just ask you this -
Can I have a second first kiss?
