Derelict Heart

A Poem.

in the midst of
so much color
so many bodies
deafening noise

she danced with
delirium to assuage
her derelict heart

throwing off the
advancing hands of
strangers who had
nothing for her

she was on a mission

a hopeful alchemist
determined to convert
her emptiness into
a home for herself.
