As a soaring bird does

If we could view our lives
as a soaring bird does

the details, the patterns
the changes, the repetitions

we might take pride
in the strength of our wings

anticipation in the rising of the sun
satisfaction in our work well done

and yet yearn for, far beyond
the expression of our sweetest songs,

the comfort and the peace we seek
at the close of every given day.
