In Between

A Poem

I don’t just want the sunny days,
I don’t just want the spring,
I don’t just want the sunshine with you,
I want the days in between.

I don’t just want the splendor of May,
I don’t just want your best,
I want it all, the days of the fall,
I do, I must confess.

Give me rain, give me you,
Give me all of it,
Show me sorrow, I’ll stay tomorrow,
I see it as a gift.

But show me smiles in between,
Show me how you live,
I will learn to be with you,
And give all I can give.
