a dark barren nothingness
and then me
I have been chipped away at
and yet I remain in my entirety
I sit here in this room of iron bars and brick
the surface of the floor made of rock
unbreakable
no windows
the only light the one still inside of me
it’s dim, sure
but real and aglow
I trace my hands along the four walls
this is what makes me up
one thing about rock bottom is
it shows you all of the solid parts of yourself
the foundation you have built
the one that can no longer be broken down
and that piece may be small
but it’s still there.
