Moments drift, slide and glide
and slip away,
like the streaming shimmer
of late-night headlights on a ceiling,
as life brings a moment
touching our heart
like the wind and sky touch the ocean,
as though the light from stars
were passing through
the prism of our being.
And when we met that day near the river,
with the water blown into slow waves
and shifting motions,
causing boats to rock
with the rhythmic clank of rigging
and show the glimmer
of patterns of reflected light,
there was that moment
fleeting, inexpressible and sweet
that still brings echoes
of your half-remembered smile.
We’re the universe becoming human
and we bring something to this world
that only we can bring,
as consciousness throughout the universe
becomes the here and now,
revealing the mystery hidden in the silence,
the whisper of eternity
written in the wind
across our endless inward sky.
Like light from stars
becoming love and dreams,
consciousness in the universe
becomes the ordinary and the everyday,
and then just sometimes,
maybe today,
it brings a moment.
