Writer’s Block is a big fat myth. A lie. One we have been afraid of, avoiding, fearing, and running from as writers since the days we first put pen to paper.

It is the writer’s Boogie Man, ready to rob us of our creativity on a moment’s notice. We will be paralyzed. Our thoughts will elude us. We will feel like imposters — like posers — like this whole writing thing was just a phase and now it is over.

Let me make my case — the one that says you will be ok. That the writing Boogie Man is not out to get you.

The Facts

You are a creative person. So what if you have a deadline pressuring you and seizing your creative thoughts. This is not a block. You are a human being, under pressure.

This happens in every field, every career path, everywhere.

The higher the stress level, the lower the creativity. — writingandwellness.com

It is no secret that stress squashes creativity. Keep this in mind when you are beating yourself up for not striking creative genius gold under pressure.

Does this pressure, whether a work-related deadline or self-imposed, mean that your creativity has disappeared…
