“The soul is partly in time and partly in eternity. We might remember the part that resides in eternity when we feel despair over the part that is in life”— Thomas Moore
We don’t have to be tough
because the world is hard,
the softness in us is the universal,
adjusting, flowing, accepting change,
being open to the moment,
our tenderness like the wind and rain
an expression of the universal soul
where a poetry of light
is gardening our heart,
for though we’re often hurt by life,
we’re always seen and known
within the caring eye
of the eternal,
a swirl of human life
woven in an ocean of eternal silence
for the lifetime of a human being.
The eternal weaves a cloak around the stars
to bring human life into this world,
its conscious light inspiring us to find our path,
trust we always have its guidance,
its wisdom woven through
the universal soul inside us,
its silence always talking to our heart.
And as the morning light melts slowly
into misty air across South London
near the river,
and fresh made tea
cools slowly on a nearby table,
I begin to wonder whether
there might yet
be hope for us
across our troubled world,
as the eternal poetry of silence
somehow touching all our lives,
continues to inspire
so many people everywhere
with the hope of change,
the hope we can somehow
bring wisdom, peace
and sunshine
to our lives
in these dark and troubled times,
while the eternal conscious silence
brings a poetry of insight
like sunlight dancing on a boundless ocean,
a poetry of wisdom reminding us
we’re part of something
larger than ourselves,
something always
in our heart.
