This Light

A Poem

This Light
masquerading briefly
as you and me-

Clothed with instinct
and the thorny crown
of ego and intellect

Temporary coverings
yet it is only this light
that is real

The source of all
the common ground
from which we all spring

Infused with a supreme
irrepressible and undeniable
impulse for the fullness of life.
