Those Eyes

Are a window to the soul

They say the eyes are the window to the soul
and I’ve come to believe it, you know —
so much that I can’t let those eyes go.

Those eyes that smile, squint, or twinkle
in wonderment, perplexity, or reflection
the window that also reflects swirling darkness.
