What are we even doing on this app if we’re all playing catfish-lite?
The last time I was single for more than 45 days was junior year of high school. It has now been 10 months since my last break-up, and while I believe it was wholly necessary for it to go down the way it did in terms of personal growth, it was unfortunate timing. I was on the cusp of graduating college — thus leaving the most convenient dating pool of a young person’s life.
Fast forward a few months. I had moved across the country, from Atlanta to Denver, without so little as a professional acquaintance to get coffee with.
After a rocky start in terms of quitting my job and beginning a freelancing career in industries I had zero experience in, I began to settle into the Colorado lifestyle. I picked up a few girlfriends, became a regular at my favorite neighborhood coffee shops, and developed hobbies that got me out to the mountains every weekend.
I went through an extensive period of recovery and reflection on my previous relationship and emerged with a clear picture of who I was and what I wanted in a man. All of the boxes were checked, except one: where is my potential homeboy hanging out, and how do I get in that space?
