unsure of
how much
this heart can take
a test of time
a test of me
pull me apart
and break me down
place your
on my head
for I may allow it,
still doesn’t make
the pain
any lighter

let’s see how far
this soul
can bend
let’s hear the fabric pull —
a ripping sound
to those
whose hearts
are warm
and full,
let’s watch the thread
inch by inch
onto the ground
just how it falls —
or suddenly
it’s all the same
the floor is cold
no matter
how we land
