Emotions are flavorful gifts —
they brighten all life’s dreary pits.
But chaos follows when they twist,
and souls may shatter in the midst.

All the feelings I’m scared to show
form tangled webs and start to grow.
Feelings flood my mind like waves,
taking everything they crave.
They brew a storm that steals my sight
and paralyzes me in fright.

The voice of reason is my rock,
grounding me when I’m in shock.
It tells me where to press the brakes
and how to dodge dire mistakes.
It teaches me to resist temptation
and how to let go of frustration.

The voice of wisdom in my ear
helps me battle my worst fears.
It helps me stand mighty and tall
and holds me up so I don’t fall.
The voice of wisdom colors my sight
in a world that’s black and white.
My wisdom keeps me in my lane.
It keeps me calm; it keeps me sane.
