I started making poetry music videos as a way to connect my poetry with music composition. I’ve been passionate about poetry and music for as long as I can remember, and I wanted to find a clever way to present how the two arts can complement each other.

The interconnectedness between poetry and music

I find the whole “pick one niche” idea ridiculous because we are all multi-faceted, and we deserve to showcase the passions that form who we are as a whole. For me, I’ve strongly gravitated toward poetry and music since I was very young — and they’ve always felt like forms of magic to me.

Poetry and music paired together is one of the most beautiful and mesmerizing interplays between the two arts, crafted by the human soul. The most well-loved example of this is songwriting — you can’t escape it, and why would you want to? Spoken word poetry set to music is another form of art I am also passionate about. There’s something different about listening to poets read and perform their own poetry out loud — the emotions are more palpable that way.
