Will You Count the Years Gone By?
Poetry
I won’t count the days gone by
filled with amber sunsets
and silver echoes of familiar hellos
skating past the icy pine.
Tumbled juggernauts and architects
vagabonds and intellects
electric moon and static stars
our paths seem destined from the start to intertwine
with moments to savor without regret
and those I cannot recollect
still sending shivers up and down my spine.
Will you count the years gone by?
Purple grass and diamond sky
sweet romance on a frozen winter’s day
your words engraved in stone and clay
with fire might thaw the heart
for it was so long ago I searched for love
but now it seems like yesterday.
