Script TV nears global rollout to over 400,000,000+ devices worldwide with CTV apps nearing launch
We’re incredibly excited to announce that we’re nearing the launch of our first apps. We’ve been working hand-in-hand with Samsung, LG alongside other leading television manufacturers to accelerate the quality assurance process and ensure everything is going as planned. Below we have explained a little more about CTV, and what to expect once the apps go live.
As we mentioned previously, earlier this year, we have several CTV Apps in the pipeline. These include, but are not limited to, platforms like Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV/Mobile, Android TV/Mobile, Samsung, LG, and Hisense. We expect this to be shipped and released on at least 5 platforms / devices by the end of this quarter. Simply speaking, this means hundreds of millions of devices will be able to access Script TV in just a few short clicks, truly making Script TV one of the most widely accessible dApps in web3.
So, what is CTV and why does it matter?
Connected TV (CTV) refers to any television that can access the internet and stream video content. This includes smart TVs and devices that connect to TVs, such as gaming consoles, set-top boxes, and TV sticks. With CTV, you can stream your favorite shows and movies on platforms like Netflix, Hulu, or YouTube right on your TV. As of 2016, its quickly becoming year on year, the number one way that people around the world watch long form content (content that is longer than 10 minutes). Why is CTV important to me?
For Viewers: CTV offers unparalleled choices and convenience. Watch what you want, when you want, and how you want. CTV brings personalized and interactive viewing experiences, complete with recommendations, ratings, comments, and social media integration. It’s like traditional TV, but supercharged with internet delivery.
For Advertisers: Reach a massive and ever-growing audience of cord-cutters and cord-nevers who prefer streaming over traditional cable. According to eMarketer, there were 106.7 million CTV users in the US in 2020, making up 60.1% of the population. With CTV, advertisers can leverage targeted ads, ensuring the right message reaches the right person at the right time.
For Content Owners, Studios and Distributors: CTV opens up new avenues for delivering high-quality and diverse content. The larger screen allows for innovative content formats and genres, from short-form videos to documentaries, and new camera techniques. It’s a playground for creativity and experimentation.
How will the Script TV app integrate into these devices?
Script TV already has over 500,000 users and although it is one of the few dApps in Script Blockchain, the platform already puts Script Blockchain in the top 2% of active ecosystems. However, our aim is to create the first decentralised experience that is completely functional through a decentralised video protocol. This will not only save astronomical fees for content owners and advertisers, but genuinely mean that hundreds of millions of people from later this year can literally sit on their sofa, turn on their tv and earn rewards, watching free TV. This is something we strived to make as simple as possible, with no crypto jargon, and no red tape. The aim is that someone can use and benefit from the Script TV platform who has never even heard of crypto or blockchain in their lives up til now. That said, we are innovating to make the experience unbelievable to our users, including
- Rewards through viewing (watch to earn mechanism)
- Spontaneous and content specific opportunities (a prize raffle for everyone who watched a particular show within a certain period for example)
- NFT gated content
- Integrated Script Blockchain apps that can be experienced through second screen.
That said, we have worked hand in hand with manufacturers to ensure our app is complaint, and alongside this, aim to start with relatively simple apps, and then upgrade those as time goes on.
