A Souls Flight
The freedom found in the twilight between sleep and dreams
Through the throes of a tired mind
The eye in weariness does blind
The heart in loneliness asleep
The soul away from body creeps
To roam and play away from care
And from the crushing weight it bears
These moments between the dark and light
Are the only time a soul takes flight
To escape the toil, the trials and woe
Laid upon it by the eternal foe
The weight of the world to be borne alone
Left to wonder if it could have flown
But alas the night it turns to day
And so it ends a free soul’s play
It trudges home, its weight comes back
Each step further another turn on the rack
For has to go back to trial and toil
Through the murk and mire about it roil
But a spark of hope does shine its ray
At the end of each and every day
In the time between the dark and light
It knows it will again take flight
